Drive form
Drive form
The drive form refers to the arrangement of the engine and the number and position of the driving wheels. FF is front-engine front-wheel drive. FR is front-engine rear-wheel drive. MR is a mid-engined rear-wheel drive. 4WD is four-wheel drive. AWD is a full-time four-wheel drive.
The advantage of the front engine is that it is easy to maintain and the cost is less than that of the mid-mounted engine. The front and rear weights of the mid-engined car are well balanced and suitable for handling.
Introduction
The common driving forms of trucks are 4×2, 6×2, 6×4, 8×4, etc. The number before “×” indicates the total number of wheels of the vehicle, and the number after “×” indicates the number of driving wheels, and it is equipped with two wheels. One wheel and one axle are counted as two wheels.
Divide the two numbers by two, which is the number of car axles and the number of drive axles. For example, 8×4 means that the car has 4 axles, and two of them are drive axles.
- 4×2: Two-axle vehicle, the first axle in front is the guiding axle, and the rear axle is the drive axle.
4×2 drive form
- 6×2: Three-axle vehicles are generally divided into two situations, one is that the front axle is the guiding axle, the second axle is the suspension axle, and the third axle is the drive axle. The other is that the front axle is a guide bridge, the second axle is a follow-up guide bridge, and the third axle is a drive axle. The 6X2 drive form of dual front axle design is common in China, while the rear suspension axle design is mostly adopted abroad.
6×2 drive form
- 6×4: A three-axle vehicle, the front axle is the guide axle, and the rear two axles are the drive axles.
6×4 drive form
- 8×4: Four-axle vehicle, the front axle is the guide axle, the second axle is the follow-up guide axle, and the rear double axle is the drive axle.
8×4 drive form
The several driving forms mentioned above are in the form of ordinary roads. For harsh and complex road conditions, trucks also have all-wheel drive models. All-wheel drive forms include: 4×4, 6×6, 8×8, the calculation method is the same as the above. All-wheel drive vehicles are mostly used in military vehicles and special vehicles, but are relatively rare in ordinary civilian vehicles.
